BOSCO In Action

REHABILITATION

BOSCO has ten centres, to reach out to the young in difficult situations and to rehabilitate the rescued children. The rehabilitation programme includes family tracking, counselling, Home placement/ reunion, formal/non-formal education, higher education, vocational skill training, job placement and room placement. Home reunion/reintegration can take place at any of the above stages. Placing them back to their families is the priority of BOSCO.

The organization provides long term shelter only to those children who require residential care most, with the authorization of Child Welfare Committee (CWC). All the rescued children are rehabilitated after giving them counseling support. 86% of rescued children are home reunified within a few days. Other children may stay in BOSCO centres, Government homes or in other NGOs for their future rehabilitation. BOSCO also runs foster care programme to provide family care to children without families of their own. After Care is another important strategy of BOSCO for the social reintegration and rehabilitation of unaccompanied children.
